There’s a lot of information out there about nutrition, isn’t there?
But how do you really know what works or what’s right for you? It seems that the conventional nutritional wisdom we learned and grew up with either through family and friends, or through various media resources (health magazines, news articles, school home-economics courses) isn’t what seems to be the best anymore.
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all diet because we’re all so different. Our genetics, our lifestyle, our activity levels, the environment we grew up in, our schedules, our body’s reaction to particular foods – these all play a factor in the type of food and timing of meals that work best for us to make us feel strong, healthy, energetic and lively each day.
You may have tried several different diets here and there…some worked for a little while and some completely didn’t. We take the time to understand your struggles, recognize the gaps and areas for improvement (that you may have not even considered), and identify the adaptations you can make day-to-day (tailored to your lifestyle, activity, schedule, work habits) to get you to where you want to be…not just for the short term, but sustained for the long term.

At Grassfed Farmacy, we don’t want to just tell you what to eat and what not to eat. We want to educate you and help you make well-informed decisions about your food and activity choices…we’ll help you develop a deeper understand of how food and movement works with your body . We promise you’ll have a new and refreshing approach to food and you might change your perception of nutrition.
You and I are faced with an incredible amount of choice.
…Choices in what we choose to eat; what lifestyles we choose to live; what occupations we want to have; what we do to help entertain us each day. Many of these things we come to face with everyday are great positives for our overall health and well being…but what we don’t realize is that there are many things we interact with that actually pose serious danger to our health – and we don’t think twice about it or tackle it because they have become so common and everyday.
We’re Too Sedentary…You and I
Do you realize how incredibly sedentary we are in comparison to our ancestors? Even with getting in our “30 minutes a day” of physical activity, most of us spend the rest of our day seated, laying down or in a static position doing work or engaging with other people. The amount of physical-labor type jobs have greatly decreased with the increase of technology and jobs that require constant work behind computers. Only a small percentage of humans stay active enough throughout the day to maintain a healthy, active and mobile body. Our shift to a more sedentary lifestyle is causing us more and more harm everyday.
Movement is important to us here at Grassfed Farmacy…and we want you to develop a stronger relationship with movement in your life, whether it be exercise, a fun sport, or developing the energy and ability to move about your day to get your work and errands completed.
Food is a Drug
It’s true, just like any other drug, your food choice and diet has a direct impact on your physiological (bodily) processes and can make or break your ability to cope with life and avoid disease. Ever notice how much you constantly crave sugars, sweets, starchy foods, breads and carbohydrates? Our bodies and minds have been trained to desire these nutrient-lacking foods which gives us short-term gratification, but lead to potential disease and distaster for our health in the long run. It’s not actually your fault… We’re constantly surrounded by processed, genetically modified, highly refined, commercially produced foods – foods that we, as humans, were never meant to eat or digest. Over time, and as agriculture and mass production became more popular, we’ve set aside wholesome, genuine, fresh foods for quick, cheap meals from a box and packaged goods with infinite shelf life. These foods are addicting, and they are driving you and I towards disease.
What can we do about this?
Frequent movement, sound nutrition and vital sleep are key to a healthy life. We need to challenge our body with movement and activity to constantly keep the processes of growth, repair and recovery at work. Most diseases we currently experience in these times are ultimately avoidable, and in some cases reversible, through proper movement and proper nutrition that we, as humans, were meant for.
We, at Grassfed Farmacy, are here to share with you with the tools, thoughts, practices, and strategies needed to overcome the toxic obstacles currently shaping our environment and aid you in the growth of health and prevention (and reversal) of disease.
